Monu Rana gets Bail
Ambala City: Shamsher Singh, alias Monu Rana, has been granted bail by the Sessions Court in a case related to allegedly obtaining a passport using forged documents and a fake address.
District and Sessions Judge Virender Malik heard the matter and ordered that the accused be released on bail, subject to the conditions imposed by the court.
Case Registered at Barara Police Station
The case dates back to an FIR registered at Barara Police Station on January 28, 2024. According to the information provided in the complaint, the case was registered on the complaint of EASI Baljit Singh.
The allegation was that a passport had been illegally obtained in the name of a person identified as Shyam Ahuja by allegedly using a false address and forged documents.
During the proceedings, Shamsher Singh alias Monu Rana was named as an accused in connection with the alleged passport-related irregularities.
Court Says Previous Criminal Cases Alone Cannot Decide Bail
While granting bail, the court referred to a precedent of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Naresh v. State of Haryana.
The court observed that the mere existence of other criminal cases against an accused cannot, by itself, be treated as sufficient grounds to deny bail.
The court also took into consideration that the police had already presented the challan (charge sheet) in the case. Since the trial was expected to take considerable time, the court found grounds for granting relief to the accused.
Conditions Imposed With Bail
The court ordered that Monu Rana be released on bail after furnishing the required bail bond to the satisfaction of the Duty/Area Magistrate.
The court also imposed specific restrictions on the accused.
As part of the bail conditions, he has been directed to surrender his passport before the court. He has also been prohibited from leaving the country without obtaining prior permission from the court.
The bail order provides temporary relief to the accused while the trial in the fake passport case continues.
Case Proceedings to Continue
The grant of bail does not amount to an acquittal. The allegations against the accused will continue to be examined during the trial, and the court will determine the matter on the basis of the evidence and legal proceedings.
The case remains connected to the allegations concerning the preparation of a passport using allegedly forged documents and an incorrect address.
