Woman Dies of Electric Shock
Ambala: A 70-year-old woman died after suffering an electric shock from a fan wire at her home in the Topkhana Parade area of Ambala on Monday night. The incident occurred while the family was preparing to welcome her grandson, who was returning after bringing Ganga water from Haridwar.
The incident turned what was supposed to be a happy family occasion into a tragedy. The deceased woman was identified as Munna Devi, 70.
According to the information given to the police by her grandson Aman, his brother Deepu had gone to Haridwar to bring Ganga water. On Monday, after Deepu reached Ambala, the family members were making preparations to welcome him home.
Munna Devi had also returned from the market after purchasing items for the welcome ceremony. She was reportedly preparing a ceremonial plate while other members of the family were outside carrying out various preparations.
Woman Found Unconscious Near Fan
After some time, when family members returned, they found Munna Devi lying unconscious inside the house. She had reportedly suffered an electric shock after coming into contact with a fan wire.
According to the family, there was an apparent electric shock mark on her hand. The family immediately rushed her to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment in an attempt to save her life.
However, doctors at the hospital examined her and declared her dead.
The sudden death left the family devastated, particularly as they had been preparing to welcome her grandson after his return from Haridwar.
Police Begin Investigation
Following the incident, the police took possession of the woman’s body and kept it in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. On Tuesday, the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.
Police have initiated proceedings under the accidental death category based on a complaint submitted by Munna Devi’s grandson Aman.
The police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine exactly how the fan wire came into contact with the elderly woman and caused the fatal electric shock.
The incident has also highlighted the importance of checking household electrical wiring and electrical appliances regularly, particularly when wires or connections appear damaged or exposed.
For the family, the incident has turned a moment of happiness and celebration into a painful loss.
