Ambala: A 60-year-old woman was injured after being attacked by a pet cow outside her home in Ravidas Mohalla, Babiyal, Ambala Cantt, on Tuesday morning. The incident has once again raised concerns over the growing presence of cattle on roads and in residential lanes.
The injured woman, identified as Krishna, suffered a hairline fracture in her knee after the cow’s horn became caught in her leg, causing her to fall onto the road. Her knee also became dislocated following the impact.
Family members rushed Krishna to a private hospital in Ambala Cantt, where she is currently undergoing treatment. According to her grandson Simran, she is also experiencing difficulty breathing, and doctors have scheduled her for an operation.
Pet Cow Allegedly Left Loose in the Street
According to Simran, Krishna had stepped outside her house on Tuesday morning when a pet cow suddenly attacked her from behind. The cow’s horn became lodged in her leg, causing her to fall heavily on her knee.
Simran claimed that the same cow had allegedly attacked people passing through the lane on several occasions. He said the owner often leaves the cow on the streets after milking it. The family was reportedly unaware of who owns the animal.
The family has urged the municipal authorities to take action against people who leave cattle unattended on streets and in residential areas.
Second Major Cattle Attack in Ambala Within Two Days
The incident is the second major cattle-related attack reported in Ambala within around two days. Just a day earlier, a Class 10 student, Khushi, was attacked by a bull in the city while she was on her way to school. The bull reportedly lifted her several feet into the air and threw her onto the road, leaving her with serious injuries to her head and forehead. She required 18 stitches.
Residents have expressed anger over the increasing number of stray and unattended cattle roaming the city’s roads and narrow residential lanes. They have urged the administration and municipal authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of residents.
