Woman Shot Outside Home
Ambala: A 62-year-old woman was injured by a gunshot under suspicious circumstances while she was sitting outside her home in the Qaziwada area of Ambala late Monday night. Police have launched an investigation to determine where the bullet came from and who fired it.
The incident took place late Monday night when the elderly woman, identified as Santosh, was sitting outside her house. She suddenly felt severe pain in her leg. After checking, she and her family discovered that a bullet had grazed her leg.
Woman Unaware of Where the Bullet Came From
According to preliminary information, Santosh told police that she was sitting outside her home when she suddenly experienced pain. She said she had no idea from which direction the bullet came or who fired it.
Her family immediately took her to the Civil Hospital in Ambala City. Doctors examined her and found that a bullet had passed close to her leg, causing the injury. She received initial medical treatment at the hospital.
Following the medical examination, hospital authorities informed the police about the incident.
Police Begin Investigation
After receiving information about the shooting, a police team reached the area and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ambala City police station SHO Sunita Dhaka said officers are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the surrounding area. The footage is expected to help police determine the direction from which the bullet was fired and identify any suspicious person or activity near the location.
Police are investigating the incident from every possible angle. Officers are also trying to establish whether the shooting was intentional or whether the woman was accidentally hit by a stray bullet.
CCTV Footage Being Examined
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Since the injured woman has said she does not know where the bullet came from, investigators are relying on CCTV footage and other evidence to establish what happened.
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and further details are expected to emerge once the CCTV footage and other evidence are examined.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the Qaziwada area, particularly because the woman was simply sitting outside her home when she was injured.
