Ambala Road Accident
Ambala/Mulana: A government ambulance driver died in a tragic road accident on the Ambala-Jagadhri Road near the Hema Majra turn. The accident took place while the ambulance was returning after dropping a patient at PGI Chandigarh.
The deceased has been identified as Gulfam alias Gulfan, 50, a resident of Yamunanagar. According to the information available, the ambulance collided with a truck parked on the roadside during the late-night hours. Police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver and started an investigation.
Accident Took Place Near Hema Majra Turn
According to the information, Gulfam was working as an ambulance driver with the government health department in Yamunanagar. He had taken a patient to PGI Chandigarh in a government ambulance.
After dropping the patient at the hospital, he was returning towards Yamunanagar. At around 1 AM on August 15, when he reached near the Hema Majra turn on the Ambala-Jagadhri Road, the ambulance crashed into a truck parked on the roadside.
The truck was reportedly standing without adequate warning signs or parking lights. Due to darkness, the ambulance driver could not see the stationary vehicle clearly, resulting in a severe collision.
Driver Trapped Inside Ambulance
The impact of the collision was so severe that the ambulance was badly damaged and Gulfam became trapped inside the vehicle. Local people and passersby helped in the rescue operation, and the driver was pulled out after considerable effort.
He was immediately taken to Medical College, Mullana, for treatment. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Police Register Case Against Unknown Truck Driver
Gulfam’s son, Gufran, told the police that his father was employed as an ambulance driver with the government health department. He said his father had gone to PGI Chandigarh with a patient and was returning when the accident occurred.
The Mullana police station has registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under relevant provisions concerning obstruction or danger on a public road and death caused by negligence.
Police Begin Investigation
Police have started investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials are also trying to determine why the truck was parked on the roadside without proper warning signs or parking lights.
Efforts are underway to identify and locate the truck driver. The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed by heavy vehicles parked without proper safety markings on highways and major roads, particularly during nighttime.
