Ambala News: Faulty Traffic Signals Causing Highway Congestion in Ambala Cantonment

Ambala Highway Traffic Jam – Traffic movement on the Ambala–Jagadhri Highway in Ambala Cantonment is being severely affected due to malfunctioning traffic signals, leading to frequent traffic jams and increasing the risk of accidents. Local residents and commuters have expressed concern over the ongoing issue, stating that several traffic lights along the highway stop functioning, particularly during afternoon and evening peak hours.

On Monday afternoon, non-operational signals resulted in vehicles getting stuck at major intersections from all directions, causing long delays and confusion among motorists. Residents fear that the situation could lead to serious road accidents if not addressed promptly.

The problem is further aggravated by the heavy movement of dumpers and commercial vehicles on the highway. With signals not functioning properly, many of these vehicles enter city areas at high speed, especially near SD Vidya School, creating safety concerns for students, pedestrians, and two-wheeler riders. Traffic congestion is also spilling over onto internal roads, affecting daily commuters.

Traffic SHO Joginder Singh said that efforts are underway to repair the faulty signal system and ensure proper compliance with traffic regulations once the issue is resolved.

Tangri River Junction Faces Maximum Pressure

The traffic signal near the Tangri River has emerged as one of the most problematic points on the highway. A large volume of vehicles coming from the Tangri Dam side intersects with highway traffic at this location. Due to the non-functional signals, vehicles from the dam route often disrupt the main traffic flow, resulting in frequent and lengthy traffic jams.

Residents also pointed out that even when the signals work, the waiting time is often excessively long, making it difficult for commuters to endure during the summer heat. They have urged authorities to take immediate corrective measures to restore smooth traffic flow and improve road safety.
