Ambala Auto Accident: 9 Injured After Car Hits Passenger Auto on Highway
Ambala: Nine people, including an auto-rickshaw driver, were injured after a car hit a passenger-filled auto-rickshaw on the Ambala-Delhi Highway near Shastri Colony bridge on Sunday evening.
The accident took place at around 4 pm when the auto-rickshaw was traveling on the highway. The collision caused the auto to lose control and overturn on the road. All nine occupants, who were returning from a religious ceremony, sustained injuries in the accident.
The incident caused panic at the spot, with people crying for help after the auto overturned. Passersby immediately tried to call an ambulance. However, when an ambulance did not arrive, the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment in an e-rickshaw after around 20 minutes.
The injured have been identified as Sanju, 42, Beji Rani, 36, Anita, 40, Pala Ram, 70, Kajal, 38, Rajneesh Kumar, 48, Reena Rani, 35, Rishi, 42, and Mamta. All of them are residents of Chhota Khudda in Ambala Cantonment.
Police said the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Civil Hospital. Padav police station in-charge Praveen said that efforts are underway to trace the car driver involved in the collision.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and are working to identify the vehicle and its driver.
