Ugala Waterlogging at Main Chowk After Light Rain Sparks Public Anger

Barara (Ambala): Even a brief spell of rain exposed the poor condition of infrastructure in Ugala village, where waterlogging at the main intersection disrupted traffic and raised fresh concerns over the deteriorating road network.

The nearly 500-metre stretch passing through the village’s main chowk was submerged after light rainfall, while several sections turned muddy. Water-filled potholes made commuting difficult for pedestrians and motorists, with two-wheeler riders facing an increased risk of skidding.

Main Road Faces Waterlogging Every Monsoon

The affected road is one of the busiest routes in Ugala, connecting markets, schools, and several commercial establishments. Thousands of villagers, students, shopkeepers, and commuters use the road daily.

Residents said the road has remained in poor condition for years despite repeated complaints. During the monsoon, the situation worsens as rainwater accumulates on the damaged surface, forcing people to travel through water and mud.

Villagers Demand Permanent Solution

Local residents, including Nirmal Singh, Sandeep Tyagi, Amarnath, social worker Chaudhary Rakesh Bhalla, Mahindra Chhabra, Sanjeev Kumar, and Harjeet Singh, said they have repeatedly raised the issue with concerned officials and public representatives, but no permanent solution has been provided.

According to the villagers, the problem recurs every rainy season, causing inconvenience and increasing the risk of accidents.

Questions Raised Over Development Claims

Residents also questioned the government’s development claims, pointing out that despite the presence of several influential public representatives and ruling party workers in the village, its most important road continues to remain neglected.

They urged the administration to immediately reconstruct the damaged road and establish a permanent drainage system before the monsoon intensifies.
