Railway Job Scam Ambala
Ambala, August 6: A major case of employment fraud has surfaced in Haryana’s Ambala district, where a young man was allegedly cheated of ₹24 lakh after being promised a government job as a Railway Ticket Collector (TC). Following an investigation by the Economic Offences Wing, Mulana Police have registered a case against three accused, including one from Haryana and two from West Bengal.
Fake Promise of Railway Job
According to the police complaint, Saurabh Chauhan, a resident of Mulana, came in contact with Balkar Singh, a resident of Mahmoodpur in Yamunanagar, during an online share market meeting held in February 2025 in Rasoolpur village.
Balkar allegedly claimed that he had strong contacts in the Indian Railways and had successfully secured government jobs for several candidates in the past. Trusting these assurances, Saurabh agreed to pay money for the promised Railway Ticket Collector post.
₹24 Lakh Paid to the Accused
The victim alleged that he paid a total of ₹24 lakh to the accused over time. After receiving the money, the accused provided him with:
- Fake Railway Identity Card
- Forged Appointment Letter
- Fake Training Documents
- Fabricated Service Record
To make the recruitment appear genuine, the accused sent Saurabh to West Bengal and Jharkhand for so-called training.
Months Spent in Hotels During Fake Training
Saurabh stated that he stayed for nearly 8 to 9 months in hotels located in West Bengal and Jharkhand, including the Seven Seven Tea Hotel and Kirtiman Hotel. He claimed that he had to bear all accommodation and personal expenses himself.
During this period, Balkar introduced him to two more alleged accomplices:
- Raju Singh (West Bengal)
- Manish Kumar Rai (West Bengal)
The trio continued to assure him that his railway appointment process was underway.
Fraud Exposed at Dhanbad Railway Centre
After receiving the appointment letter, Saurabh was directed to report at the Bhuli Railway Centre in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, for joining formalities.
However, when railway officials examined the documents, they informed him that:
- The appointment letter was fake.
- The identity card was forged.
- The service records were fabricated.
- No recruitment had been conducted in his name.
It was then that Saurabh realized he had become the victim of a well-planned job fraud.
Accused Stopped Responding
According to the complaint, Saurabh demanded his money back in March 2026 after discovering the fraud. However, the accused allegedly stopped answering his phone calls and disappeared.
Following the complaint, the matter was investigated by the Economic Offences Wing, which found sufficient grounds for legal action.
FIR Registered by Mulana Police
Based on the investigation report, Mulana Police have registered an FIR against:
- Balkar Singh (Yamunanagar)
- Raju Singh (West Bengal)
- Manish Kumar Rai (West Bengal)
Police have initiated further investigation to trace the accused and recover the cheated amount.

Recruitment in government departments is conducted only through official notifications and authorized recruitment agencies. Candidates should never pay money to individuals claiming to secure government employment through personal contacts.
