Government Doctor Found Dead

A government doctor was found dead inside his own car parked outside the Sector-10 Polyclinic in Ambala City on Tuesday morning. The incident came to light when hospital staff noticed the stationary vehicle and discovered the doctor’s body lying on the rear seat.

Police identified the deceased as Dr. Nand Kumar Jha, a Medical Officer posted at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Patrehri. Authorities believe the body was approximately two to three days old, as it had begun decomposing.

Police Launch Investigation

After receiving information, police reached the scene and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital mortuary in Ambala City. According to Sector-9 Police Station SHO Inspector Jitender, a board of forensic experts will conduct the postmortem after the deceased’s family arrives.

Officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be known after the postmortem and forensic examination.

Liquor Bottle and Glass Found Inside the Vehicle

During the initial investigation, police recovered a liquor bottle and a drinking glass from near the driver’s seat. The car key was reportedly found in Dr. Jha’s hand, while a bag containing clothes was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle.

Investigators are examining all available evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s death.

Doctor Was Living Alone

Police said Dr. Nand Kumar Jha had been living alone in a rented house in Sector-10, Ambala City. His wife passed away in October 2025, and the couple had no children.

He owned two cars, and his body was found inside one of his Honda City vehicles. Dr. Jha had joined the Haryana Health Department as a Medical Officer in 2011.

Family Informed, CCTV Footage Under Examination

According to police, one of Dr. Jha’s brothers lives in Ranchi while another resides in Bihar. His brother-in-law lives in Sector-10, Ambala, but was reportedly in Delhi and is expected to return before the postmortem.

Police are also searching for CCTV footage from nearby areas to determine whether Dr. Jha drove the car himself or if someone else parked it at the location. So far, investigators have not found any footage confirming how the vehicle reached the site.

Officials said further action will depend on the postmortem findings and the ongoing forensic investigation.
