Ambala train accident, August 14, 2026: A 40-year-old unidentified man died after being hit by a train on the Ambala-Delhi railway section near the DRM office in Ambala. The incident occurred on Thursday when the man reportedly came onto the railway track and was struck by the Delhi-Pathankot Express.
According to railway officials, the locomotive pilot informed authorities that the man suddenly came onto the railway track and sat on the railway line. The pilot immediately applied the emergency brakes after noticing him. However, the train was reportedly too close to stop in time, resulting in the man being hit.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown. Officials said that no identity card or other documents were found on the man, making it difficult for authorities to establish his identity.
RPF and GRP Teams Reached the Spot
Following the incident, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Ambala and the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the location. Sub-Inspector Nirmal from RPF Ambala and Manjeet Kaur from GRP Ambala, along with other staff members, inspected the site and initiated the necessary proceedings.
Police officials also examined the deceased’s belongings and conducted an initial investigation. No identification documents were recovered from the body.
Police Working to Identify the Deceased
According to the information available, the deceased had some writing in green colour on both arms. Police may use this distinctive detail along with other information to establish his identity.
The body was removed from the railway track at around 2:56 PM and taken for further proceedings. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks of entering or sitting on active railway tracks, where approaching trains can be difficult to stop even after emergency brakes are applied.
