A tragic Ambala road accident claimed the lives of three migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh after an unidentified speeding vehicle hit them near Mitthapur village in the Saha area of Ambala. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, and police have launched an investigation to identify the vehicle and its driver.
Three Workers Killed on the Spot
According to police, the accident occurred on the Ambala–Jagadhri Road near Mitthapur village. The victims have been identified as Rohit, Mohit, and Shobharam, all residents of Lalitpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
The impact of the collision was so severe that all three men died on the spot before they could receive medical assistance.
Workers Were Returning with Firewood
Preliminary investigations revealed that the three deceased were employed as construction workers at the under-construction KBS Mahindra building located along the Ambala–Jagadhri highway.
After completing their work shift, they had gone to nearby fields to collect dry firewood for cooking dinner. While returning to their worksite carrying the firewood, an unidentified speeding vehicle struck them from the front.
Driver Escaped After the Collision
Local residents rushed to the accident site after hearing the loud impact. However, the victims had already succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle fled the scene along with the vehicle, taking advantage of the darkness before police arrived.
Police Register Case Against Unknown Driver
After receiving information from passersby, Saha Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case against the unknown driver under relevant sections related to rash and negligent driving and causing death. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the vehicle involved in the fatal accident.
Investigation Underway
Investigators are examining nearby surveillance cameras and collecting evidence from the accident scene. Police officials stated that efforts are being made to trace the vehicle and arrest the absconding driver at the earliest.
Authorities have also informed the victims’ families in Uttar Pradesh about the tragic incident.
