Ambala jewellery showroom fire : A massive fire broke out at a jewellery showroom in Ambala City late Tuesday night, leaving the shop’s interior, jewellery, air-conditioning equipment and gold-testing machines severely damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The fire broke out at Agarwal Jewellers, located in Pooja Complex, at around 1 a.m. Preliminary investigation suggests that a short circuit may have caused the blaze.
Fire Reported After Dense Smoke Was Spotted
According to fire officials, people in the surrounding area noticed thick smoke coming from the rear section of the showroom. The fire department was informed at around 1:20 a.m., following which fire engines were immediately sent to the spot.
Firefighters opened the showroom shutter and began the operation. By the time they entered, the flames had spread across a large portion of the showroom, making the situation difficult to control.
Fire Brought Under Control After Several Hours
Fire department personnel immediately began spraying water to prevent the flames from spreading further. After several hours of continuous efforts, the fire was finally brought under control at around 4:30 a.m.
City Fire Officer Ravindra Kumar said that two fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze. The intensity of the fire caused extensive damage to the showroom, destroying valuable items and several modern machines.
Extent of Financial Loss Yet to Be Assessed
The showroom’s interior, jewellery, air conditioners and equipment used for testing gold were among the items damaged in the fire. The exact financial loss has not yet been determined.
Officials have started investigating the incident, with a short circuit being considered the preliminary cause. Further details are expected after the assessment of the damage and completion of the investigation.
Despite the extensive property damage, the absence of any casualties provided some relief to the shop owners and nearby residents.
