Ambala Electricity Employees Protest Over Lack of Basic Facilities

Ambala Electricity Employees Protest, June 17: Employees of the Electricity Department’s Sub-Division No. 2 in Ambala Cantonment staged a protest at the office premises on Wednesday, raising concerns over the lack of basic workplace facilities in the Industrial Area under their jurisdiction.

The employees gathered outside the subdivision office and held a one-hour demonstration, accusing the department of neglecting their long-pending demands. Protesters said they have repeatedly informed officials about their problems, but no effective action has been taken.

According to the employees, the Industrial Area served by Sub-Division No. 2 lacks essential infrastructure. They claimed that no complaint center vehicle has been provided for field operations, making it difficult to attend consumer complaints efficiently. Workers also highlighted the absence of basic amenities such as drinking water facilities.

One of the major issues raised during the protest was the pending complaint room. Employees alleged that the room designated for handling public complaints has remained unavailable for the past eight months. They further claimed that the space is currently occupied by a Junior Engineer (JE), forcing staff members to carry out their duties without a proper office setup.

Due to the shortage of workspace, employees said they are often compelled to work in open areas or rely on temporary arrangements, creating difficulties in managing daily operations and serving consumers effectively.

The protesting staff accused the administration of ignoring their concerns despite multiple requests. They stated that while they remain committed to providing uninterrupted services to the public, the department has failed to ensure even basic working conditions for its workforce.

Employees warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they may intensify their agitation in the coming days. The protest witnessed participation from staff members across the subdivision, who united in demanding immediate action from department officials.

The demonstration concluded with employees urging the authorities to restore essential facilities and provide a suitable working environment to ensure smooth functioning of electricity services in the area.
