Shahzadpur news:
A jaundice outbreak has been reported in Kashyap Mohalla of Shahzadpur, Ambala district, with contaminated water supply suspected to be the cause. Health department teams have so far collected 103 samples, of which 17 people have tested positive for jaundice.
According to health officials, several patients have already recovered after receiving treatment. The issue is reportedly linked to leakage in a water pipeline, which resulted in contaminated water being supplied to residents of the locality.
OPD Camp Started After Cases Were Detected
Dr. Gurpreet, SMO at Shahzadpur CHC, said that an OPD health camp was started in the area on August 5, after cases of infection were detected.
On the first day of the camp, 11 patients were identified. Since then, health department teams have been conducting regular medical camps in the locality. Over the past three to four days, around 30 to 40 people have been examined every day, with blood samples being collected from those requiring further testing.
Health Camp to Continue for 10 to 15 Days
The health department has decided to continue the medical camp for the next 10 to 15 days. During this period, health teams will also conduct door-to-door surveys in Kashyap Mohalla.
The survey will help officials identify people showing symptoms and ensure that suspected cases receive timely medical attention. Teams will continue monitoring the health situation in the area and collecting samples wherever necessary.
Contaminated Water Supply Raises Concern
The leakage in the water pipeline and the subsequent supply of contaminated water have raised concerns among residents. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as health teams continue testing people in the affected locality.
So far, 17 cases of jaundice have been confirmed among 103 samples collected. The health department’s medical camps, testing and door-to-door survey will continue in the coming days to assess and control the spread of the infection.
