Ambala–Kala Amb Highway accident , August 1: A tragic road accident on the Ambala–Kala Amb Highway claimed the lives of an elderly husband and wife after a speeding car allegedly rammed their motorcycle from behind near Naraingarh on Friday afternoon. The impact threw both victims onto the road, causing fatal head injuries. They were declared dead after being taken to the hospital.
Police have registered a case and launched a search for the unidentified car driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
Couple Was Travelling to Visit Relatives
According to the police complaint filed by Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Hamidpur village, his relatives Rajkumar (66) and Jaswant Kaur (63) were travelling by motorcycle to visit his family on Friday.
At around 12:48 PM, Sandeep was near Bindal Furniture on the highway when he witnessed a speeding car approaching from the toll plaza side and crashing into the motorcycle from behind.
Victims Suffered Fatal Injuries
The collision was so severe that both Rajkumar and Jaswant Kaur were thrown onto the middle of the highway. They sustained serious head injuries and lost consciousness at the scene.
Local residents rushed to help while an ambulance was called immediately. Both victims were taken to the Civil Hospital, Naraingarh, where doctors declared them dead.
Driver Escaped After the Crash
Witnesses told police that the car driver fled the scene before authorities arrived. The vehicle’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police have begun an investigation to identify the vehicle and trace the driver responsible for the fatal accident.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are examining evidence and collecting statements from witnesses to determine the exact sequence of events. CCTV footage from nearby locations may also be reviewed as part of the investigation.
Officials have urged anyone with information about the accident or the fleeing vehicle to assist the police with the inquiry.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over speeding and reckless driving on the Ambala–Kala Amb Highway, a route that witnesses frequent traffic accidents.
