Fake Vigilance Officer Arrested on Chhattisgarh Express in Ambala
Ambala: A 53-year-old man posing as a railway vigilance officer was arrested from the Chhattisgarh Express after allegedly threatening a TTE and attempting to carry out illegal collection.
The accused has been identified as Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Vasant Vihar, Delhi. A joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) caught him during a search operation on train number 18238 Chhattisgarh Express.
According to officials, the accused allegedly posed as a vigilance officer and threatened the TTE while traveling on the train. The matter came to the attention of authorities after information was received through the control room.
Fake Railway ID Card and Walkie-Talkie Recovered
Following the information, the CIB/RPF unit conducted a search in the train’s A-2 coach late Tuesday night.
During the search, officials allegedly recovered a fake railway vigilance identity card and a Motorola walkie-talkie from the accused. The recovered items reportedly indicated that he was impersonating a railway vigilance official.
The GRP has registered an FIR against Sudhir Kumar under various applicable sections. Police have taken the accused on remand for further investigation.
Police to Investigate Possible Connections
Investigators are also examining whether the accused was acting alone or had links with other people involved in similar activities. Officials said further arrests could follow if other individuals are found to be connected to the alleged fraud.
The investigation is ongoing, while authorities are verifying the circumstances under which the accused allegedly posed as a vigilance officer and interacted with railway staff.
