HTET Question Paper issues – Candidates appearing for the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) Level-1 and Level-2 examinations in Ambala on Sunday reported multiple issues with question papers, including incomplete printing, missing multiple-choice options, and absent question numbers. Several examinees claimed these errors created confusion and affected their performance during the exam.
The examinations were conducted in two shifts across 27 examination centres under strict security arrangements. While authorities focused on ensuring a fair and malpractice-free examination, candidates raised concerns about the quality and handling of the question papers.
Question Paper Errors Troubled Candidates
According to candidates, several question papers contained missing answer options, incomplete printing, and even missing series numbers. Some examinees also reported that questions numbered 133 to 135 were absent from their papers.
Candidates said they informed examination centre superintendents about these issues, but no effective solution was provided during the examination. Many claimed they had to attempt the paper despite the printing errors.
Questions Raised Over Paper Distribution
Another concern raised by candidates was the distribution of question papers. They alleged that, unlike previous HTET examinations where question booklets were provided in sealed packets, this time the papers were distributed openly after the packets were opened, leading some candidates to question the transparency of the process.
Heavy Security Arrangements at Examination Centres
The district administration deployed extensive security arrangements at all examination centres. Candidates underwent police verification at the first security checkpoint, followed by frisking by private security personnel.
Male candidates were required to remove threads, bracelets, and other accessories, while female candidates had to remove earrings, rubber bands, and certain jewellery before entering the examination halls.
Attendance Statistics
The HTET examinations witnessed a significant turnout across Ambala district.
- Level-2 (TGT):

- Absent: 1,353
- Level-1 (PRT):

Overall, 6,166 candidates appeared, while 1,939 candidates remained absent out of a total of 8,105 registered candidates.
Special Bus Services Operated
To facilitate smooth transportation, the Ambala Cantonment Bus Stand management started bus operations from 4:30 AM. Around 35 buses made multiple trips to examination centres and nearby districts, including Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar. Additional buses and staff remained on standby to assist candidates throughout the day.
Authorities Respond
Principal K.P. Singh of Farukha Khalsa School stated that all question papers arrived in sealed trunks, which were opened under video recording and official supervision. He explained that each packet contained 20 question booklets instead of the earlier 25, and all procedures were followed carefully.
District Education Officer Sudhir Kalra said the administration’s primary responsibility was to conduct the examination peacefully and prevent malpractice. He added that no official complaints regarding printing defects or missing options had been received by the department.
