Ambala Woman Alleges Dowry Harassment, Husband Sent Divorce Messages After Love Marriage

Ambala Dowry Harassment Case, Haryana: A woman from Baroli village in Ambala’s Naraingarh subdivision has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, physical abuse, and misappropriation of her belongings following their love marriage.

According to the complaint, the woman alleged that her husband, who is employed at a government hospital, began harassing her for dowry shortly after their marriage. She claimed that despite marrying for love, she was subjected to continuous mental and physical abuse by her husband and family members.

The victim further alleged that her husband demanded substantial amounts of money and valuables from her family. When the demands were not met, she was reportedly mistreated and pressured repeatedly.

In a shocking allegation, the woman stated that her husband attempted to abandon her at an airport and later sent divorce messages through his mobile phone. She claimed that the messages were sent without any prior discussion or legal proceedings, leaving her distressed and without support.

The complaint also accuses the husband and his relatives of retaining her stridhan (woman’s property and valuables received during marriage) and refusing to return it. The woman has sought legal action against those involved and requested protection from further harassment.

Following the complaint, local police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Authorities stated that statements from both parties will be recorded, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.

The case has drawn attention due to the serious allegations involving dowry demands, domestic abuse, and the alleged attempt to end the marriage through text messages. Police officials have assured that the matter will be investigated thoroughly under relevant legal provisions.
