Ambala celebrated International Yoga Day in Ambala with great enthusiasm as thousands of residents gathered at the Sports Stadium in Sector 10 for the district-level event. The program was organized to mark the 12th International Yoga Day and highlighted the growing importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being.
Civil Aviation Minister Vipul Goyal attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp. He later joined participants in performing various yoga exercises according to the official yoga protocol.
Minister Highlights Global Acceptance of Yoga
Addressing the gathering, Minister Vipul Goyal said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has become a global movement embraced by nearly 190 countries. He emphasized that incorporating yoga into daily life can contribute significantly to building a healthier society and achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The minister also acknowledged the contribution of yoga guru Baba Ramdev in popularizing yoga across the country over the past 25 years.
Haryana Promoting a Yoga-Based Healthy Lifestyle
Speaking about the state’s initiatives, Goyal said that the Haryana government celebrated the occasion under the theme “Healthy Body through Yoga, Yoga-Yukt Haryana, Rog-Mukt Haryana.” He noted that more than 800 yoga centers are currently operating across the state, benefiting residents in approximately 6,500 villages.
As part of the environmental awareness campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” the minister also participated in a plantation drive during the event.
Public Advised Against Illegal Colonies
During interactions with the media, the minister discussed arrangements for the NEET 2026 re-examination and assured that the government has made comprehensive preparations to ensure a transparent and fair examination process.
He also urged citizens not to purchase plots in unauthorized colonies and stated that the government is working to regularize eligible colonies while ensuring the provision of basic civic amenities.
Yoga Demonstrations and Honors
Yoga instructor Neeru Agrawal and her team from the Ayush Department conducted various yoga sessions, including Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, and several other asanas. Participants from different age groups actively took part in the exercises.
The event concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates to yoga teachers, Ayush Department staff, and officials for their contributions to promoting yoga and public health.
Several dignitaries, including ADC Virat, SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat, BJP District President Mandeep Singh Rana, and other officials, were present at the program.
