Ambala: A massive fire broke out at Rej Industries in Azad Nagar near the Industrial Area of Ambala in the early hours of Friday, causing extensive damage to goods, raw materials and equipment stored on the first floor of the factory.
The fire reportedly broke out at around 5 am and quickly intensified, with flames spreading to the first floor of the building. The entire stock, raw materials and equipment kept on the floor were destroyed in the blaze. According to the factory owners, the incident caused losses worth lakhs of rupees.
Firefighters from several locations were called to control the situation. Three fire tenders from Ambala Cantt and five vehicles from Ambala City and Barara were deployed to extinguish the fire. After sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control.
Factory Owners Raise Questions Over Fire Department Response
Factory owners Praveen Aggarwal and Sushant Aggarwal alleged negligence in the response of the fire department.
Praveen Aggarwal said that the fire department was immediately informed after the fire was noticed around 5 am. However, he alleged that the first fire tender to reach the factory was only partially filled with water, which ran out within a short time.
According to the owner, the second fire tender arrived more than half an hour later. He claimed that if larger fire tenders filled with sufficient water had reached the site on time, the fire could have been controlled at an early stage and a significant portion of the financial loss could have been prevented.
No Casualties Reported
Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident as the fire broke out during the early morning hours.
A short circuit is being suspected as the possible cause of the fire, although the exact reason has not yet been confirmed. Local authorities and police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the blaze.
Rej Industries manufactures plastic and other parts used in tractors. The extent of the financial loss is being assessed.
