Ambala: Sagar Kalkal, a first-year BA student at GMN College in Ambala Cantonment, has brought pride to his college and district with an impressive performance at the 6th Haryana State-Level Fin Swimming Championship held in Faridabad.

The competition was conducted from August 21 to 23, where Sagar displayed excellent speed, technique and determination. He won three gold medals and one silver medal across four events.

Sagar secured gold medals in the 50-metre Bi-Fin, 100-metre Bi-Fin and 200-metre Bi-Fin events. He also won a silver medal in the 50-metre Surface event.

His outstanding performance earned him another major honour as he was awarded the prestigious Best Swimmer trophy in Haryana’s Senior-A category.

Sagar Selected for National Fin Swimming Championship

Following his strong performance at the state-level competition, Sagar has been selected to represent at the National Fin Swimming Championship 2026, which will be held in Pune, Maharashtra.

The achievement has been welcomed by the college, with faculty members praising his dedication and consistent efforts in swimming.

Brijesh Gupta, Head of the Physical Education Department, said Sagar’s success was the result of his hard work, regular practice and unwavering dedication to the sport.

College Principal Dr. Rohit Dutt also congratulated the student and said that developing students’ sporting talent remains one of the institution’s priorities.

Sagar’s three gold medals and silver medal at the Haryana state championship have further strengthened his position as one of the promising young swimmers from Ambala. His selection for the national championship in Pune now gives him an opportunity to compete at a higher level and showcase his talent on the national stage.
