Contractor and Labourer Injured After Falling From Roof During Construction Work in Ambala

Ambala construction accident, August 1: Two construction workers, including a contractor, sustained injuries after falling from the roof of a house while carrying out repair work in Housing Board Colony, Ambala, on Friday. Both victims were admitted to a local hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

Accident Occurred During Roof Construction

According to those present at the site, the accident happened while construction material was being lifted onto the roof using a temporary iron-frame platform.

The injured have been identified as Vinod Kumar, a contractor from Samalkha village, and Deepraj, a labourer from Khojkipur.

Iron Structure Collapsed Suddenly

Vinod Kumar, who works as a mason and contractor, said he was supervising construction work along with other workers at a house in Housing Board Colony.

To move sand, cement, and other building materials to the rooftop, the workers had assembled a temporary platform using iron angles. During the work, the structure suddenly loosened and gave way.

Deepraj, who was standing on the platform, began to fall. Vinod Kumar tried to save him, but both lost their balance and fell to the ground.

Both Workers Hospitalised

People nearby immediately rushed to help the injured workers and shifted them to the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment for treatment.

Doctors said Vinod Kumar suffered a fracture in his leg, while Deepraj sustained serious injuries. Both remain under medical care.

Safety Measures Under Focus

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of proper safety precautions at construction sites. Temporary lifting structures and scaffolding should be regularly inspected to prevent such accidents.

Authorities have not reported any further complications, and no official complaint had been registered at the time of reporting.
