e-Treatment Portal Ambala Down for 3.5 Hours, Patients Face Long Queues

Ambala: Patients at the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment faced difficulties on Monday after the hospital’s e-Treatment portal remained non-functional for around three and a half hours. The disruption occurred after the UPS, which serves as the main backup for the hospital’s power system, suddenly developed a fault.

The technical problem affected several important hospital services, including OPD registration, emergency services and pathology laboratory operations. The disruption was particularly troublesome for patients waiting at the OPD and laboratory counters.

With the computer systems down, hospital staff were unable to issue new registration slips or print patients’ medical reports. To keep essential services running, staff members began recording patient details manually on cards and slips. This resulted in long queues outside the registration counters.

The Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment reportedly handles around 2,200 OPD patients every day, making the system outage a significant inconvenience for patients and their attendants.

Emergency Services Also Affected

The emergency department also experienced problems during the outage. Patients requiring registration, as well as those needing files for MRI and CT scan procedures, had to wait at the counters.

According to the report, some patients had to wait for nearly an hour just to complete a single entry. Hospital staff continued working manually by preparing cards and slips until the digital system was restored.

The e-Treatment portal became operational in the afternoon, bringing relief to patients and hospital staff. The incident highlighted the importance of reliable backup systems and uninterrupted digital services in busy government hospitals.
