Kargil martyr Vijay Kundu
Ambala, July 27: The family of Kargil War martyr Lance Naik Vijay Kundu was honoured during a tribute ceremony organized in Ambala to mark 27 years of the Kargil War.
The Akhil Bharatiya Purva Sainik Seva Parishad organized the कार्यक्रम at Rajput Dharamshala in Kismat Nagar. The event was presided over by district president Captain Amarjeet Sharma, while social worker Rajiv Sharma Ladi and chairman Gaurav Miglani attended as chief guests.
The ceremony began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp, followed by a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War.
During the programme, Jeet Ram, father of martyr Lance Naik Vijay Kundu, was honoured in recognition of his son’s sacrifice and service to the nation. The gesture was aimed at remembering the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
Several former military personnel and distinguished guests attended the tribute programme. Among those present were Colonel HS Kaushal, Wing Commander Ashok Chauhan, Colonel Himmat Singh, Major Sanjay Mehrotra, Subedar Major Krishna Lal, and Usha Chandel, president of the women’s wing.
Sanjay Garg, district president of the International Human Rights Justice Council, also attended the ceremony.
The gathering highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of India’s armed forces and honouring the families who continue to carry the legacy of those who gave their lives in service of the country.
The organizers said such programmes help keep the memories and sacrifices of war heroes alive and inspire younger generations to understand the contribution of the armed forces.
