Ambala Shop Owner Firing: A 32-year-old meat shop owner was injured after allegedly being shot by his former friend during a late-night firing incident beneath the Baldev Nagar flyover. Police said the attack was the result of an old personal rivalry. The accused fled the scene after the shooting, while the injured victim managed to snatch the pistol during the confrontation.
The injured man, identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sonu, is currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital, Ambala City. Baldev Nagar Police have registered an FIR against the accused and launched a search operation.
Three Rounds Fired During Confrontation
According to the complaint lodged by Sukhwinder Singh, he operates Sadhu Meat Shop in Baldev Nagar. On the night of July 19, around 10:30 PM, he was sitting near Shri Ram Flats with his friends Shubham Nanda and Suraj Singh when he received a WhatsApp call from his old friend Anuj Pandit.
The caller allegedly abused him over the phone and challenged him to meet under the Baldev Nagar railway crossing flyover.
Around 11:30 PM, Sukhwinder and his two friends reached the location on a motorcycle. Soon after, Anuj Pandit allegedly arrived on foot carrying a pistol and opened fire without any warning.
Victim Shot in Heel, Two Friends Escape
Police said the accused fired three rounds during the incident.
The first bullet struck Sukhwinder Singh in the heel of his foot as he attempted to jump away to save himself. The accused then allegedly fired two more shots at Shubham and Suraj, but both managed to duck and escape without injuries.
Victim Snatched Pistol Before Accused Escaped
Despite being injured, Sukhwinder reportedly struggled with the attacker and managed to snatch the pistol from him. Following the scuffle, the accused allegedly threatened to kill him before fleeing the spot.
The injured shop owner was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
Police Register Case, Search Underway
Baldev Nagar Police have registered a case against Anuj Pandit based on the victim’s statement. Officers are investigating the motive behind the attack and are conducting raids to arrest the accused.
Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the firing and collecting evidence from the crime scene.
