DISHA Meeting Ambala
A District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Ambala witnessed high drama after Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma walked out in protest over the repeated rejection of development works proposed under the MP Local Area Development (MPLADS) Fund. The incident highlighted growing tensions between elected representatives and the district administration regarding the implementation of public welfare projects.
The meeting, held to review ongoing development works across the district, turned contentious when Sharma accused officials of unnecessarily rejecting projects submitted through his MP fund.
MP Kartikeya Sharma Criticises District Administration
During the meeting, MP Kartikeya Sharma strongly criticised the district administration, alleging that officials were deliberately delaying or rejecting public development projects recommended by him.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, Sharma stated that if the administration intended to reject every proposal submitted under his MP fund, there was no purpose in his continued participation in the DISHA meeting. Following his remarks, he stood up and left the meeting midway in protest.
His walkout immediately drew attention from officials and other public representatives present at the meeting.
Lok Sabha MP Varun Chaudhary Supports the Protest
Lok Sabha MP Varun Chaudhary also backed Kartikeya Sharma’s objections during the meeting. He questioned the functioning of the district administration and alleged that development projects proposed from his side were also being delayed without valid reasons.
According to Chaudhary, the issue was not limited to one MP, but reflected a broader problem in the execution of development works recommended by elected representatives.
Officials Face Tough Questions
The strong objections raised by both Members of Parliament reportedly created an uneasy atmosphere among administrative officials attending the meeting.
The confrontation shifted the focus of the meeting from routine development reviews to the alleged administrative handling of MPLADS proposals. Officials did not publicly respond to the allegations during the proceedings.
Political Discussion Intensifies in Ambala
The disagreement between the MPs and district administration has become a major political talking point in Ambala. The incident has sparked discussions over whether development proposals under the MP fund are being processed efficiently and transparently.
The walkout has also drawn public attention to the coordination between elected representatives and district authorities in implementing infrastructure and welfare projects.
