Ambala school bus accident – A school bus carrying teachers of The Scholar School crashed into a wall after a soil-laden dumper reportedly came from the wrong direction near the Bhanokheri Flyover in Ambala on Friday morning. The accident left nine women teachers injured, with one sustaining serious head injuries.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid the dumper. The bus veered off the road and rammed into a wall, causing panic among the passengers. Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and helped rescue the injured teachers before they were taken to the Civil Hospital, Ambala City for treatment.
Among the injured, Meenakshi suffered a severe head injury and required stitches. The other injured teachers sustained minor injuries and are reported to be in stable condition. They include Gurjinder (40) of Tangriyan village, Reena (40) of Durga Nagar, Kanika (36) of Sonia Colony, Mandeep Kaur (36) of Jawahar Nagar, Mamta (32) of Loh Simbly, Ritu (42) of Baldev Nagar, Romi (35) of Vishnu Vihar, Rajni (38) of Jagadhri Gate, and Neelam (52) of Kamla Vihar.
According to Gurtej, owner of The Scholar School, the school is currently closed for summer vacations. The management had organized a recreational trip to Chandigarh for the teaching staff. All teachers were instructed to assemble at the school campus in the morning before departing for the trip. However, the accident occurred before the bus could reach the school, preventing the excursion from taking place.
The sudden collision disrupted traffic in the area for some time as emergency services responded to the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, including the role of the dumper driver and whether traffic rules were violated.
