Private Bus Crew and Passengers Allegedly Attack RTA Team During Inspection in Ambala

Ambala RTA Team Attack – A routine enforcement drive against illegally operating private buses at Ambala Cantt Bus Stand turned violent on Wednesday when members of a private bus crew and several passengers allegedly attacked officials from the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).

According to officials, the incident occurred while the RTA team was conducting checks and issuing challans to buses operating in violation of transport regulations. During the operation, a bus driver, conductor, and a group of passengers reportedly confronted the inspection team and engaged in a physical altercation with three employees—Pankaj Kumar, Shiv Darshan (TSI), and Dinesh Kumar.

Authorities stated that the accused allegedly snatched mobile phones and an electronic challan device from the officials, damaged their uniforms, and attempted to force them out of the vehicle. The entire incident was reportedly captured on video.

Following the disturbance, senior RTA officials and police personnel arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Based on a written complaint filed by the affected employees, police launched an investigation and seized the bus involved in the incident.

Bus Fled After Inspection Action

RTA Secretary Sushil Kumar said the driver and conductor allegedly took the bus and fled from the bus stand after taking back the vehicle keys and licence documents. The bus reportedly exited the premises through the wrong side and headed towards Delhi on the Ambala–Delhi Highway.

Police teams pursued the vehicle for nearly 10 kilometres before intercepting and detaining it. The driver, conductor, and one passenger were taken into custody for questioning, while the bus was brought back to Ambala Cantt Bus Stand for further legal action.

Passengers Left Stranded

The enforcement action and subsequent police operation caused inconvenience to passengers, many of whom were forced to wait for several hours before arranging alternative transportation through Haryana Roadways buses and other vehicles.

Authorities have stated that further investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will be taken against those involved in the assault.
